Formation, reactivity tuning and kinetic investigations of iron "dioxygen" intermediate complexes and derivatives in multiphase flow reactions
Selective Oxidations of organic substrates especially hydrocarbons using air as an oxidant are important reactions in homogeneous catalysis. While regular kinetic investigations in the lab can provide solid basic information regarding the mechanism of such reactions the reactivity can be quite different in an industrial process setup. The major goal of this research project is the development of iron catalysts for selective oxidation reactions that also can be used in industry. The final goal would be the selective hydroxylation of hydrocarbons such as methane or benzene.
